Beaver in Pale Turquoise
What’s more Canadian than a beaver? Not much, you’d think, what with it being our national animal and all. This beaver, however, is not Canadian; it’s a European beaver. But you probably can’t tell, and neither can anyone else. If you don’t tell, then neither will I.
This bewhiskered beaver is made from orange and gold Nepalese paper and features a gold glass bead eye. It is based on a 1774 illustration of Castor fiber (European beaver) from ‘Die Såugthiere in Abbildungen Nach Der Natur’.
The beaver is 4.75 inches wide, stitched by hand on 5x7 inch 100% cotton watercolour paper, which means that it will pop right into any commercial frame in that size, and be ready to hang on your wall.
Materials: Japanese paper, glass bead, and cotton floss on cotton paper.
