My dresses have always been based on real clothing from old catalogues, fashion and women's magazines, and museums. In my earlier work, it was all about the shapes, and I didn't worry so much about matching my paper to the fabric. Historical accuracy has become increasingly important to me as time has gone on, and I hunt out papers that more closely resemble the originals.
I've always enjoyed sharing my inspiration, which is why my historic dresses all come with a citation pointing to the original garment. And now I've added links to the museum pieces in my descriptions (where a link is available), so you can see where each dress started!
I'm currently trying to decide whether I should upload catalogue and magazine images for the non-museum pieces. It's a copyright thing I need to sort out.
